If you do something exceptional, even if it’s for a short time, there is a chance it will be remembered and admired. That’s the case with jazz vocalist, Annie Ross, who recently passed away at the age of 89. From 1958-62 she was part of the jazz trio, Lambert, Hendrix and Ross, which made a very clever decision to take straight-ahead jazz music and add lyrics. It gave them one of the most interesting sounds in jazz vocals. There is clearly a place for Annie Ross in jazz heaven.
